March 20, 2004 Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia When we left almost three years ago our plan was to spend three years exploring the world and its peoples. The plan has evolved and it is changing again. 3/20, Mooloolaba, Australia Hello to all our family, friends, acquaintances and fellow
travelers who have shared with us over the past two and one half years the
adventures of Windarra. Your many e-mails offering encouragement and advice
have made us realize that no matter how far you travel support is only an
e-mail away. Thank you for all your communiqués. Now for the news....... We will be retuning to the USA this
summer and we are bringing Windarra with us! When we left almost three years ago our plan was to spend
three years exploring the world and its peoples. Our goal was to
circumnavigate depending on Jess and Sarah's educational needs and the
family's health. It became obvious to us the first year that three years
would not be adequate if we were to interact with the local cultures and if
Jess and Sarah were going to have appropriate time for their studies. So we
slowed down and spent this year in Australia. This allowed Jess to focus on
schoolwork and college applications. It was a good decision. It is time to come home spend time with
our families and friends, at least for a while.... We will ship Windarra back to the USA using a floating dry-dock
service called Dockwise. She will be floated aboard along with other yachts
in Brisbane, Australia during the last week of July. We will off load her in
Vancouver, BC in mid September and sail her home to Seattle where we plan to
live aboard. During that time Katmandu and we will fly back to the States,
have our annual visits and help Jess get settled into college. Sarah has
decided to continue with the distance-learning program but would like access
to extracurricular activities and time with friends. Elaine and I are still
discussing what we will do with ourselves but are confident we can engage in something
meaningful. Probably planning our next adventure. In the meantime we will continue to explore Australia and enjoy
the hospitality of her people. |
